Project Description
Rotary Club of Bhaktapur successfully organized the UN Global Road Safety Week 2026 Awareness Rally under the theme Road Safety, Life Safety” “on 17th May 2026 in Bhaktapur. The program was conducted in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Bhaktapur, Rotaract Club of Kathmandu Medical College Duwakot, Inner Wheel Club of Bhaktapur, District Traffic Police Office Bhaktapur, local schools, and community volunteers.
The rally commenced from Dattatraya Temple and concluded at Nyatapola Temple, spreading awareness on safe road practices throughout the heritage city of Bhaktapur. Around 150 participants, including traffic police personnel, students, Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, Inner Wheel members, and community stakeholders, actively participated in the event.
Students from Medha Secondary School, Mount Valley Boarding English School, The Rising English Secondary School, and Sooryadaya Secondary School enthusiastically joined the rally with traditional instrumental performances and creative self-made placards carrying impactful road safety messages and awareness slogans.
Representatives from District Traffic Police Office Bhaktapur, including Chief Jharana Sonar, shared valuable guidance on traffic safety and responsible public behavior. Chief Guest DGND Rtn. Amit Giri emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in creating safer roads and communities.
The program successfully promoted public awareness on road safety and strengthened collaboration among schools, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations.
