Project Description
A school awareness program under the theme “Empowering Community Through School” was successfully conducted on 6 October 2026 at Gupteshowre Madhyamic Vidyalaya, Konjyosom, Lalitpur. The program aimed to educate and empower students on "Child marriage, human trafficking, safe migration, and the prevention of sexual harassment".
The program was supported by the Rotary Clubs of Baneshwore, Maharajgunj, and Patan Durbar Square, Paurakhi-Nepal, and Kalpana Everest Foundation Nepal. Rtn. Manju Gurung and Kalpana Maharjan led the program successfully.
During the session, Dr. Indra Shrestha, President of Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square, provided a brief introduction to Rotary, its values, and its community-service initiatives. President, Sindhu Aryal introduced Paurakhi-Nepal and its work. Rtn. Manju Gurung spoke about Rotary and human trafficking, while a Police Inspector highlighted the issue of sexual harassment and the importance of prevention and personal safety. Kalpana Maharjan discussed child marriage, its consequences, and the importance of protecting children's rights.
To inspire the students, Kalpana Maharjan also shared her remarkable experience of climbing Mount Everest twice, from both the Nepal and China sides, encouraging students to believe in themselves, overcome challenges, and pursue their dreams with determination.
